The Big Green Picnic - What was On in 2008

With Local Island Picnic treats including the Women’s Institute Tea Tent, a special Picnic Food Farmers Market, a Taste Tent and local ice cream and lemonade there is something for the whole families picnic - including homemade burgers and homemade ginger beer!

There are many kids activities and storytelling and face painting all with a green twist.

The latest green sciences will be on display - for your interest or indeed your own home as the Big Green Picnic aims to show us what Islanders are already doing on our Island to be greener - and how we can all join in.

In the health and beauty tent you can find mineral make up and alternative therapies and Liz Earle. Outside there are wind turbines, solar panels, and composting and recycling information- even for your mobile phone - and a book swap stall so bring your used books!

The electric vehicle display will show you hybrid cars, electric scooters and Southern Vecti's New Eco bus - Bike racks will be on hand as will a bike doctor!

Displays of future green energy will inform us as to how easy it is to go green - once you know how!
